The scene at Muar's "Tam Chak Kwai"(Wai Sek Kai)-Jln Haji Abu ANd the popular Teow Chew -MEE POK

I wore it up & down in the town, took pictures here and there...finally when i sat down to eat my mee pok,i realised i got the wrong pair of slipper! who care man!
This is the Muar's popular "Chui Kuih"-same like KL's "woon chai kou"(rice flour) KL's texture is like kuih seri muka! A bit hard. But this type is soft and tender, most suitable for people with tooth ache or with ulcer in the mouth!haha soli huh!Easy to eat ma!But this food only found at the stalls opposite the Jalan Maharani wet market and Jalan Haji Taib road side. All road side food taste ....so good.
The popular "MEE POK"
The MEE POK's ingredient...soli can't have a closer look...cos scare my camera get "Chong Kong"
Food Market - inside has got many stalls selling the same type of Bak-roast pork, char siew, yongtau foo, popiah and so on...
Hot and tasty roast pork being chop...mmmm
The crowd searching for the best stalls to buy their various bak.
Mee Pok stall
I think they used food colouring on these roast ducks- this type Not my fancy! Make sure you tell the workers to differentiate the basin well-Blue colour use for clothes washing and Red for the Aa.
Oh yes! i like this type -It is called "LOR Aa"
The duck meat stall by the road side of Jln Haji Abu-No wonder called Aa(duck)
Cakes and kuih stall
Business is good at these stalls..i got to wait for a few minutes in order to wait for the shopper to clear the scene to snap these pictures.
A long Q for the tim-sam and pau-pau.
The Q shop-one and only in Muar!
The Junction at Jln Hj Abu and Jln Ali ( See beh Lor ) The are two cineplex in this building and houses the "Popular Book Store"inside. It was the former site of Victory theatre. The building and the cineplex belong to Goh family-another rich friend of mine. Hehe...tak percaya??
The Teow Chew kuih sold on the road side in front of the Kim San,i.e pulut kuih ,soon kuih etc
Muar's popular food-Otak-otak stall
Eating by the road side-But all look happy,No complaint.Must get permission to snap this picture,IF not....Just look at their size! ( Their T-shirt all look like XXL)
This aunty has been frying Kuih Tiow since my school days- a bit plump but still look shapy after all these Years! But i don't know how does the Kuih Tiow taste like...cos in Muar I hardly eat any fried Kuih Tiow.
Another Otak-otak stall-You can easily find 10 stalls on the road side.Make sure you try all stalls before buying the next 10 batang.
Yet another one...Look at the boxes there!
At the cross Junction of Jln Meriam and Jln Hj Abu
This was considered as one of the few pioneer restaurant in Muar Town in the 60-70's. I attended my 4th anut's wedding feast here and even their eldest daughter's full moon feast in this restaurant-i think way back 1971.But now....
Jalan Meriam ( Sa Beh Lor ) and Jln Hj Abu Junction
The Jln Meriam "Bak kua" stall ready for the action...

Thank you for featuring "Glutton Street" of Muar or Mar-Poh. Yes, I miss Victory theatre, where I used to watch those Chinese adult X-rated movies back in the early 70s. I remember each time the cinema had to put up a small sign at the cinema entrance: "For Adults Only" or "Untok Dewasa Sahaja" (18 years old and above. But me and my friends still managed to enter even we were only Form 4 then. And not forgetting its famous "Morning Show" on every Sat and Sun at 11 a.m. Ticket cost only 25 sen! It usually featured war movies, cowboy & Indians and Tarzan too. And of course that part of town and its surrounding areas is notorious for Chinese gangsters like "Ang Ki (Red Flag) and See-Sek (Four Colors)!!

I am also from Muar, I really miss the morning show moment which we eat ( kuah chee ) while watching movies which you do not have the opportunity to experience it now a days. I also mis the small book stall infront of the cinema where you can pay 5-10 sen to read the( LONG FU MEN ) and the ( tekam ).All this are those thing that the new generation don't have the opportunity to see & experience
it. So Sad.
