My Trip to Pulau Perhentian-Kecil & Besar on 20/8 to 23/8

My family's trip on 20/8/2008 to this little town of Kuala Besut,Terengganu and i 've witnessed a vast changes on this little town of Kuala Besut. It has transformed from a busy fishing port ( smelly stink from rotten fishes and the poluted river) to a clean and calm jetty. My last visit here was in 1979! May be they have shifted the original fishing jetty to some where else.
It took me solid 6 hours of lone driving to reach this small town, excluded the one hour of breakfast (@ Kuala Lipis ) and lunch ( @ Kuala Kerai-packing & go;didn;t stop long) Oh my dear, this was the first time to have driven from KL > Bentong > Kuala Lipis > Gua Musang > Kuala Kerai > Machang > Pasir Putih and Finally Kuala Besut. I have travelled about 480 Km from home. I found out that i really love to drive!!
I did bring along the two sugar glider babies. They didn't give much problem to us.
BELOW & ABOVE : The much improved jetty ever since my previous visit on 1979
The linkage from the land to the sea, shops are along the long corridor. The cost of the ferry was rm 320.00 to & fro! ( RM 70 FOR AN ADULT AND RM 40 FOR MY BABE)
On the way to the island.
This was where we stayed- The Arwana Perhentian.Breakfast buffer was rm 18++.No thrill at all....
The FUN ,The SUN, The Beach and the FOOD....
Lovely beaches....
GOING ROUND THE TWO ISLAND-PERHENTIAN BESAR & KECIL
Our rented boat "Trans Era" -ROUND THE BOTH ISLAND TRIP COST ME RM 350.00. YOU CAN CONTACT jOE ;A LOCAL mALAY YOUNG MAN @ 019-9385898 for this boat service. The whole trip lasted about 6 hours.
A school of fishes feeding on the bread My little Mermaid...she loves to swim This place is called Shark Point by the locals.Situated between Teluk KK and Everfresh resort.Sighting of the baby shark is possible.we had seen one three footer baby shark in this location; swimming about 20 m away form us-A beautiful blue baby shark of 3 feet in length. Our boat man Joe filled up a 1500 ml plastic bottle and squeeze the bottle hard and it will create a sound that will attract the attention of the shark!?(He told me that this was how they did to attract the shark to come !!??) Anyway i didn't stay long at this location cos Bo Lam Par to see a giant shark come towards me!
Another interesting place which we have experienced during the excursion was at the Tuna Bay.At this place we managed to see two full grown green turtle. Woh! it was fun to tail the turtle while it searches for food ( May be looking for some cockles under the sea bed)
This is how the Green Turtle look like in the sea
Beautiful rock cliff along the edges of the island The Pulau Perhentian Besar Balai Polis & the modern jetty in front of the balai. Otak Otak (The locals called it satay Fish-Not my kind of taste ;too sweet for me,The east coast people have sweet tooth) stall on the beach front and the makan stall. We had our lunch here during the round island trip. The food Ok lah! This place is mainly for tourist who stop over. They cater a lot for MatSalleh taste.Like fruits salads, sandwiches, etc. This was the restaurant (a stone throw form Arwana ) that we spent most of our meals there. the food was delicious and good at at reasonable price.Siakap (Sea Bass)was RM 4 to 5 per 100 gm and a plate of Kampung fried rice was rm 5.00,fish & chips was rm 10.00 but a can of beer was rm 9.00.This Macik cook is good at cooking.
The B' first Bar...breakfast at 8.30 only-missed it,served too late' got to rush for the boat ride round the island at 0800 hours.Lunch - missed it too;cos went outing in the sea and dinner...we spent all our dinner here for the whole 4 days stay....just imagine how good was the food there!
Simple fruits salad and mixed vege , it really taste good!
My daughters likes to order these Mat Salleh meals...but when they saw our order of fish and others dishes came ...they too can't resist to taste our food! This simple nasi goreng kampung was good indeed! The squids were fresh!

This 700 grams ikan Siakap (Sea Bass) cost me rm 35.00 (@ rm 5.00 per 100 grams)was cooked with butter & garlic. It really tested delicious. The first night we had a 500 grams cooked with sweet & sour @ rm4 .00 per 100 grams and the last (3rd) night we had the same type of fish ...and we were recommended to try the grill in aluminium foil.
