Decision resolves 28-year-old dispute
The 28-year dispute over the ownership Pulau Batu Puteh is over with the International Court of Justice awarding it to Singapore.
However, the court in The Hague awarded Malaysia the ownership of Middle Rocks, a group of rocks located 0.6 nautical miles (1.1km) south of Pulau Batu Puteh, or Pedra Branca as it is known in Singapore.
Singapore had argued that it had exercised sovereign powers over the island since the Horsburgh lighthouse opened in 1851,
WITH NO PROTEST FROM MALAYSIA UNTIL 30 YEARS AGO.!
The ICJ also noted that the strength of Singapore's claim lay in a letter sent by the state secretary of Johor in 1953 to the Singapore government where he informed that "the Johor government does not claim ownership of Pedra Branca" !!

Obviously the cabinet wants us to believe that Singapore build the light house, pay all the costs of maintenance in pulau batu puteh for 50 years is because they love us so much. The suggestion we own the island is just preposterous at best if not outright lie by the politician. Singapore is not a lamb duck where it can be push around by Malaysia even though it is small.
If Malaysia own the island, you think mahah-tail will allow Singapore set up light house there for 50 years? Sleaze fox already invade that country.
the officer who issue the letter must have though that what is the worth of this small off shore island when my grandfather bought 10 acres of land in my kampung for only 3000 ringgit 50 years ago.
Probably nothing better to do for the foreign ministry officials in Malaysia , that is why they come out with this idea of taking Singapore to international court over a tiny island where they have nothing to do in maintaining it from the past. Similar to the claim over Taiwan by Japan and China after the island gain prosperity by local inhabitants.
