Mas Selamat Kastari-Have you seen him lately?

Last seen in Baju Melayu
POLICE yesterday released for the first time details and pictures of what terrorist Mas Selamat Kastari was wearing when he broke out of the detention centre last Wednesday.
Besides the standard attire of a beige T-shirt, brown draw-string pants and black rubber slippers which all detainees wear, he was also wearing a greenish grey Baju Melayu with long sleeves.
Detainees at the Whitley Road Detention Centre are allowed to change into civilian clothes on family visits day to “facilitate interaction”, police said.
They added that Mas Selamat was last seen wearing the Baju Melayu, although they did not explain why he had two sets of clothes with him.
It is believed that the escaped detainee could have wore the prison garb underneath his Baju Melayu.
Police director of operations Wong Hong Kuan told reporters yesterday that they were releasing the information only now - a week after the leader of the Jemaah Islamiah terror network here went missing - because they want the public to help look out for these discarded items.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Wong said it was not made public earlier as the authorities needed to ascertain what Mas Selamat had with him when he fled.
Also, they did not want the public to have the “fixation” with a particular attire as the fugitive could have already changed his clothes.
‘We believe he had all these items with him...but by now, he would be able to change into any attire,’ he said. Various sightings of the wanted man by the public so far have had him bare-bodied or wearing a T-shirt.
AC Wong did not reveal if anything else was found missing from Mas Selamat’s cell in the detention centre.
Since the escape last Wednesday at about 4.05 pm, police have received more than 600 calls to 999 and over 170 e-mails about the case.
AC Wong also urged the public to report any sightings and minor theft cases, especially if clothes, money or food were stolen.
He also added that the photographs and details of the suspect have been distributed to all agencies at the entry and exit points, including the Checkpoints, Immigration and Quarantine Complex in Johor Baru.
