Anyway Ahmad has refused to apologise over his racist remark calling the Chinese community “immigrants who do not deserve equal rights”.
“Why should I apologise? I didn’t do anything wrong. Those who do wrong should apologise but I haven’t done anything,” Ahmad said when The Star met him outside his Bayan Baru office yesterday.
He, however, refused to comment on whether the press misquoted him(The Star:5/9/08)
Abdullah said Najib’s apology was the “right thing to do” although the sentiment on the ground was that the apology should come from Ahmad himself.
“He has said that it was not his intention to offend the Chinese community but he has already uttered such remarks.
PENANG's LAND Matters
Chief Minister Lim had recently attacked Ahmad on a 1997 land deal involving PPSB, in which Ahmad had been a director. Lim alleged that the company had cheated the state of RM500,000 in a deal involving 4.2ha of industrial land in Bukit Minyak.
On the alleged misappropriation of funds involving now-defunct company Popular Profile Sdn Bhd (PPSB), Ahmad said he had resigned before any action was taken on the company.
He was quoted as saying: “This issue has nothing to do with me. Action is taken on a company, not on a personal capacity. Moreover, I resigned from the company on Sept 1, 1998. What happened after that, I don’t know."
My Personal point :
I do admit that my grandparents were both immigrants from China. They came here to find a descent job and to make a living at the same time they sent monies back to China to support their families and relatives. My parents were born here in Tanah Melayu-Malaya and I was born in Malaysia too.I am the 3rd generation after the first arrival of my grandparents in Malaya;way back in 1915-1920s'. Let's talk about the 3rd generation Chinese here ; especially group of people like us who were born in the 60's or earlier. We were born, raised ,educated and some unfortunate good soul have even died on this beloved land...and so on. Ahmad shouldn't have called the Chinese in that manner no more...Those were the past history. We are all Malaysian!
“Hopefully those remarks which were uttered by him was not intended to hit the present Chinese in Malaysia. But it was only mean to highlight the originality of the Earlier Chinese who were trying to find a green pasture on this land...And most of all he has no intention to offend the Chinese community." Right? Note: The Portuguese were here from 1511 t0 1641.(367 Years ago). Those Portuguese descendants who reside in Malaysia are all considered as Bumiputra in Malaysia.
