Selangor records rise in dengue cases
Health Ministry director-general Tan Sri Dr Ismail Merican, who released the statistics on Friday, said Selangor had a total of 2,391 dengue cases, the highest in the country as at Jan 24.
Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya had 436 dengue cases while Negri Sembilan recorded 94.
Selangor also topped the list in the number of chikungunya cases with 116 cases while Kuala Lumpur-Putrajaya had 28 with Negri Sembilan having nine.
Dr Ismail hit out at some residents who refused to co-operate with health officers who were carrying out inspections.
“They refuse to allow the officers into their premises to check for aedes larvae and even close their windows during fogging,” he said, adding that the health officers were empowered to issue compounds up to RM500 to those who do not keep their compounds clean.
